Father's Day 2020

Okay, so I am totally one of those people that gets the biggest kick out of surprising someone with a gift or celebration. One of my most prized moments is when I managed to get 20+ people at our small home for a surprise birthday party for Charlie; AND HE WAS ACTUALLY SURPRISED!! Um, wife winning right here.

Anyways, Father’s Day 2020 is coming up and I just wanted to share a few ideas that I have done for Charlie before, as well as what we did for him this year. I tried to share items ranging in price, as well as where to get them from (but remember, out here in the boonies, I don’t have many options other than the internet, so hello AMAZON!)

Let’s start with the simple, apparel and “gimmicky” items. Charlie has always loved his Hurley Swim Trunks, especially the ones that have a faded or “ghost” look. He has a black pair that has the American Flag on it and just loves them. His pair are from a few years back, so I have tagged a few options below I found on Amazon that are similar. He also LOVES his Reef Flip Flops. They are comfortable, sturdy AND his favorite feature is the bottle opener on the bottom of the shoe (smh).

Now, let’s move on to electronics. There are two items that I have purchased for him in the past that he loves, and that I would suggest for most anyone. The first is our travel size Bose Speaker. We have had that sucker for I don’t even know how long now, and we love it still. It is blue-tooth compatible and not super heavy or bulky. We take that thing on boats, on vacations, outside in our yard, pretty much anywhere and it has worked great. Since ours is so old, I found some newer ones they are offering and attached a link below.

Another option could be noise reducing headphones. I decided to get this one year for him, because he likes to watch movies in bed and most the time I am pooped and fall asleep in the middle of the movie. (I know moms out there feel my pain!) The sound from the show would wake me up, and I decided a great option would be for him to use headphones once I pass out. He uses those on the lawn mower, at night, during the day and just loves them.

Finally, let me tell you what we did this year; it is more sentimental, but I think he will love it (BTW, don’t say anything, as he doesn’t know about it yet and I cannot wait to see his reaction). It is a book through a company called Hurray Heroes and it makes a story about your child and their father specific, to the details you put in. It is so sweet, and well put together, and it is really neat that you can make the characters look like your family members. I had Jordan put his handprint on the inside and write in his own handwriting “I love you” and his name. Every year I am going to have him write in it too, and then on his 18th birthday, have him give it to Charlie with all the thoughts, memories and sentiments inside. I think it will be a great present between them both.

Now for a larger, more expensive option, is a GRILL. Just to keep everything on the level, I did not just go out and buy him this grill on a spur one day. I had known for a while he wanted this type grill, and had been saving a few dimes and nickels for the past few months. It also helped that I did not have Jordan’s school tuition for 2 months and I was able to get the grill on the down low without him knowing. It is from the company Pit Boss and it is a pellet style grill. We have heard MANY good things about these grills and the company, and I think Charlie would recommend it to anyone. Now, we have only had it for a few months, so I can only speak about what we know now, BUT it has done great so far. Ours is big, but they have smaller options as well. I have linked a picture below as Amazon sells a few options, but that might not be the way to go for everyone. We bought ours at a local store so that I could pick it up myself. I also got all the grilling utensils, and fun stuff to go with it.

These are just a few ideas and hopefully it helped you find something you might get or at least spark an idea for something perfect for the Dad in your life. This year Fathers Day is Sunday, June 24th. I hope that yall are able to celebrate and have a blessed day.

To buy direct, click on the name button and it will take you to the Amazon page where it is listed. You might be able to find these items offered on other websites, for different prices and color/size options; I used Amazon as I am a registered Amazon affiliate and receive a small commission on items purchased.
